individualized data of students from the 2009 Census of Higher Education, and teachers from the 2007 Census of Basic Education has allowed the improvement of the
projection model adopted by using a longitudinal study of the students school history and teachers careers. Studies about teachers stock and the input and output components of the labor market contributed to the formulation of the hypotheses to create the projected scenarios. The projections exercises performed in this study aim to think about the role of public policies on teacher training, pointing to pathways for a tangible increase in the supply of new professionals for the job market by analyzing different scenarios and levels of the indicators studied. The choice of some scenarios in the projections has identified the courses of physics and mathematics as those in which the increase in the future availability of teachers present more difficulties compared to biology and chemistry. Additionally, the results show that an improvement in completion rates were also more promising than increases in the proportion of new students, especially regarding the course of physics, which presents a higher deficiency of supplying professionals for the labor market. |

As projeções populacionais têm se revelado como importante instrumento de planejamento e avaliação da política pública. Este trabalho propõe uma discussão acerca da oferta de professores para a educação básica nas disciplinas biologia, matemática, física e química, a partir da aplicação de métodos demográficos de projeção de mão de obra especializada para estimar a oferta destes profissionais até o ano 2028. A disponibilidade de dados individualizados de alunos, a partir de 2009 no Censo da Educação Superior, e de docentes, a partir de 2007 no Censo da Educação Básica permitiu o aprimoramento do modelo de projeção adotado, a partir da realização de estudos longitudinais sobre a trajetória escolar de alunos e a trajetória profissional de docentes. Os estudos sobre estoque de docentes e das componentes de entrada e saída do mercado de trabalho subsidiaram a formulação das hipóteses que compõe os cenários de projeção. Os exercícios de projeções realizados nesta dissertação procuram refletir sobre a atuação das políticas públicas de formação de professor, apontando caminhos para o efetivo aumento da oferta de novos profissionais para o mercado de trabalho segundo análise dos cenários e indicadores estudados. A escolha de alguns cenários de projeções permitiram identificar os cursos de física e de matemática como aqueles que possuem maior dificuldade para aumento da disponibilidade futura de docentes em comparação com os cursos de biologia e química.
