A rapid literature review concluded that few studies with high methodological quality investigated the effectiveness of these processes. This study aimed to build a measure of that effectiveness. The items created for the Coaching Process Effectiveness Instrument (CPEI) were semantically analyzed by lay and experts judges and applied to 263 individuals. Exploratory Factor Analysis revealed a three-factor assessment solution (coach skills, environment and perceived effects) with excellent evidence of validity. Correlations, T-tests and ANOVAS were calculated with scores for these factors and individual characteristics. The perceived effects are significantly higher among religious coachees, less educated coachees and when the evaluation is carried out within three months of the intervention. Public servants coachees make significantly fewer positive assessments of their environment. The institution that trains coaches may significantly influence CPEI assessments. These findings are still inconclusive. Their confirmation requires the use of this Instrument in other samples. Further studies are needed to conclude something about coaching effectiveness.

Contextos de rápidas e imprevisíveis transformações demandam o desenvolvimento de competências para lidar com diversos desafios. As organizações necessitam de profissionais extremamente competentes. Pessoas buscam processos de coaching visando desenvolver competências e felicidade. Uma revisão rápida de literatura concluiu que poucos estudos com alta qualidade metodológica investigaram a efetividade desses processos. Este estudo objetivou construir uma medida dessa efetividade. Os itens criados para o Instrumento de Efetividade de Processos de Coaching (IEPC) foram semanticamente analisados por juízes leigos e especialistas e aplicados em 263 pessoas. A Análise Fatorial Exploratória revelou uma solução de três fatores de avaliação dessa efetividade (competências do coach, ambiente e efeitos percebidos) com ótimas evidências de validade. Correlações, Testes T e ANOVAS foram calculadas, com escores desses fatores e características individuais. Os efeitos percebidos são significativamente mais elevados entre coachees religiosos, de menor escolaridade e quando a avaliação é realizada em até três meses da intervenção. Servidores públicos coachees fazem avaliações significativamente menos positivas do ambiente. A instituição formadora dos coaches pode influenciar significativamente as avaliações do IEPC. Esses achados ainda são inconclusivos. Para confirmá-los é recomendada a utilização deste Instrumento em outras amostras.
