“…This study aims at identifying what concept of literacy is present in the theoretical referential, which supports the evaluation of Portuguese Language 5th grade of Basic School (Saeb) and Brazilian Test (Prova Brasil) and analyzing if the concept adopted reflects Matrices of Reference and the tests applied since 1995, considering the importance that these evaluations have been receiving in Brazilian educational scenario. Thus, to deal with the concepts of literacy and speech genre, basic postulates that guide this work, we use the following authors’ reflections: Bakhtin, Barton, Street, Soares, Kleiman, Ribeiro, Rios, and Marcuschi. …”
