“…The relationship between the percentage of teachers with higher education and the performance measured for 4th grade / 5th grade schools is analyzed, besides the relationships between the percentage of teachers with adequate training in the subject they teach and the performance of schools with 8th grade / 9th grade, controlled by the other indicators, both for Portuguese Language and for Mathematic subjects. Results show that, in all four studied models, teacher education is related to student performance, evaluated by school’s average scores, with positive effects but low intensity when compared to the effect of socioeconomic levels. …”
