understanding for the development of indicators that portray the phenomenon. The focus of
these previous studies was based on the understanding that conceptions matter, that is, the
concept that is adopted for the definition of a certain phenomenon is important for its
characterization. These studies have already demonstrated that the adoption of different
conceptions of poverty, namely monetary, unsatisfied and multidimensional basic needs,
affect the measurement of what is called poverty and consequently the definition of those
who are considered poor and likely to be beneficiaries of public policies for your combat.
However, little is known about the impact of adopting each of these poverty perspectives
to understand the consequences of the phenomenon, especially on the subjects' well-being.
Taking this gap as a starting point, the work is dedicated to testing the relationship between
different perspectives of poverty and its consequences for physical well-being, mental
well-being and life satisfaction. |

A relação entre a ampliação do conceito tradicional de pobreza e as consequências desse alargamento para a mensuração do fenômeno tem sido estudada em inúmeros trabalhos como por exemplo Codes (2008); Santos (2010); Fahel et al. (2016) e outros autores que se dedicaram a discutir a multidimensionalidade da pobreza e as consequências dessa compreensão para a elaboração de indicadores que retratassem o fenômeno. O foco desses estudos anteriores apoiou-se no entendimento de que as concepções importam, ou seja, o conceito que se adota para a definição de um determinado fenômeno é importante para a caracterização do mesmo. Esses estudos já demonstraram que a adoção de diferentes concepções de pobreza, tais como a concepção monetária, uma concepção baseada em necessidades básicas insatisfeitas e um conceito multidimensional afetam a mensuração do que é chamado de pobreza e consequentemente a definição daqueles que são considerados pobres e passíveis de serem beneficiários de políticas públicas para o seu combate. Entretanto, pouco se é sabido acerca do impacto da adoção de cada uma dessas perspectivas de pobreza para a compreensão das consequências do fenômeno em si, em especial as consequências da pobreza no bem-estar dos sujeitos.
