A partir de entrevistas realizadas com familiares de desaparecidos políticos brasileiros, da análise das suas produções literárias e dos documentos e processos pesquisados na Comissão da Anistia e Arquivo Nacional de Brasília, a tese investiga o impacto dessas mortes na vida dos seus familiares, e as (im)possibilidades da realização do luto, relacionando-os com a ausência de julgamentos e condenações, em razão da Lei de Anistia, instituída ainda no ano de 1979, e a insuficiência de leis e políticas de memória sobre a ditadura militar no Brasil.
